Kano Man Dies After Tripping Into Unmarked Well

Residents of CBN Quarters on Hadejia Road, Kano, were left in shock following the tragic death of a 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, who drowned after falling into an abandoned well.

The spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to reporters, explaining that the victim had been driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defense.

“After dropping off guests at a nearby house, he stepped out of the vehicle to urinate, unaware of the abandoned well and debris in the area,” Saminu stated.4He added that the cover of the well gave way, causing the victim to fall, which tragically resulted in his death.

The State Fire Service, led by Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene within 15 minutes.

“Unfortunately, the victim was rescued while unconscious and was later pronounced dead at Sir Sunusi Hospital,” Saminu disclosed.

He further revealed that the victim’s body was handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division for further investigation.
